Sneaky Peek!!!

"Oooh! Wot's this 'ere then?" I hear you cry....

"Top secret WIP, matey," says I, but because I am trying to keep you, all of my trusty blog followers... erm...'following' my blog, I am hoping to post the odd tasty 'morsel' to keep you all interested...and the above is one such morsel!!!

So, all you Colonial freaks, I'm sure you know what battle the above is from... Keep an eye on the Wargame press over the next few months to see more (this pic won't be published, so I'm pretty safe letting you have this little peek...)

In other news, in about 3 weeks North Star will be releasing the first 3 warbands for 'Muskets and Tomahawks', which will be the next BIG thing here at Guitarhero central. I shall be buying all 3 (Woodland Injuns, Brits and Frenchies) for 'dip and one highlight' painting and much 'Last of the Mohicans stylee gaming!!.

Also, watch for coming conversions of a few 'finest armoured' Arthurian Romano-British Commanipulares infantry (just to create a front rank to give a more WYSIWYG approach to my Romano-Brits) and more Dark Age Welsh cavalry (over the summer)...

Yes, the painting and gaming bug has bitten back and I am getting back 'in the zone!!'

Cheers

Andy

The Last Eleven of the 66th Regt. at Maiwand!

I used the same Empress wounded drummer boy and sergeant figure for my own 66th Berkshires at Maiwand, though by the look of it, my guess is you've converted all 11 from Empress Zulu War British infantry. Empress are beautiful figures. Aside from that wounded duo I've only used their officers, since carving pants legs into puttees is a rather tough conversion, but your look great. Not sure if you've ever been to my blog, but if not, you might enjoy visiting, and I enthusiastically invite you to do so at: MaiwandDay.blogspot.com

I have indeed visited your blog a number of times! Pretty darn fabulous it is too!!

For further pics of my vignette, look at issue 61 of Wargames Soldiers and Strategy magazine, as the vignette is on the cover and there is an accompanying 'how I did it' article.

All 'non-dead' Brits are Empress minis with filing of gaiters and careful painting of stripes to represent puttees!!! No carving required... :-)

Cheers

Hey, Andy,

Very happy to hear you've visited my blog before! Had to drive 40+ miles this morning to bring one of my kids to a basketball tournament, which happened to be held in the small city that houses the largest wargaming store in Southern California (Brookhurst Hobbies of Garden Grove), so when the games were done (happy to say, my daughter's team won both) I stopped by the store to pick up a copy of WSS with the pic of your beautiful troops on the cover... but unfortunately there were none! Either already sold out, or maybe have yet to arrive. I must now go track a copy down via the web. Congrats on making the cover, and extra congrats on shining a prominent hobby spotlight on the Battle of Maiwand!

I've just had a read of WSS 61 and this diorama looks fantastic.

Well done Andy on a great article.

Issue 61 isn't in the stores here in the UK yet - at least it wasn't when I looked on Friday. It is the July-August issue, so has probably gone to subscribers first, then into stores next week.

Thanks for the kind words. They are much appreciated. I enjoyed writing the article and painting the diorama. It was very different to just painting troops for a wargames army - a very interesting challenge - and I am very pleased with the result.
